Living a life of balance

Balance... what a difficult concept. Learning to balance our lives takes time, effort, wisdom and lots of patience. We should continuously look at our life and our habits to make sure we are not tipping the scale in either direction.

We often remind ourselves to be more holy or righteous or whatever other term you care to use to describe your devotion to God. And all of that is fine and good but if you are not enjoying the journey you will backslide.

Now don't get me wrong I am not saying we should take a free pass to go get drunk and party or indulge in any other way. Not at all. What I am saying is that you have to find the joy in life. Take some time for yourself, enjoy a movie or a good book, go bowling, anything. Remember that just because you have chosen to give your heart to God doesn't mean the fun ends.

Find the joy in serving God. If reading your bible is not fun, make it fun. Find ways to make it come to life, get an audio bible, look into translations of words to make them more personal, find a new translation that works for you. On a side note if you do choose to find a new translation be sure to cross reference with a more "accurate" translation... I'm just saying...

This journey that we are on is not supposed to be all smiles and rainbows, but its not supposed to be monotonous and robotic either. There is a joy that comes from the peace of God and if you haven't found that I urge you to try something different. Alter the way you do things, join a fellowship group, a bible study, interact. Find a way to use your talent for God. DO SOMETHING.

This has been on my heart lately because I have seen so many people get comfortable in the day to day that they forget to have fun. Sure they can do that for a while, but sooner or later something breaks and either break through or the enemy breaks you. Don't let the enemy win. Don't listen to his lies.
Father God I pray your overwhelming joy on anyone reading this. I pray that you give them a renewed passion for you and your word. Make the scriptures come alive for them, help them find the joy in the journey to you. Touch them like only you can. Fill those voids in their life with more of you. A renewed excitement and fire for worship and prayer and simply being in your presence Father God. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.

Don't lose your smile soldier,
Me
